Graduated from the Louis Lumière School, François Catonné is first of all a Director of Photography on numerous commercials and more than 25 feature films in which he worked with directors like Roman Polanski, Louis Malle, Francis Veber, Alain Corneau ... He began his career in advertising as DOP in 1978, working with Daniel Fauchon on nearly 150 commercials, which has led him gradually to specialize in the shooting of table top commercials and finally directed them (nearly a hundred films as director) for all major brands and many countries (Spain, Italy, England, Belgium, Ukraine, Poland, Holland ...). Painter (he has been exhibiting for 15 years) and he also made documentaries on other painters. Along with advertising, he also worked as DOP on 35 feature films, including the last four movies of Bertrand Blier ("How much do you love me" ,"The Clink of Ice" ...) and four movies with Regis Wargnier "INDO-CHINA" Oscar of the best foreign movie for which he won a César for the best picture in 1993. From the largest: Halong Bay, to the smallest: close-ups of table top commercials, he keeps on working on features and table top commercials as DOP as well as director.
